The first week of Summer started off with a bang, at our house! No Literally! Our week started out with the Celebration of Tregan's birthday, and dental checkup for all three kids. And turned out to be two dentist visits and a doctor visit.
We celebrated Tregan's birthday on Tuesday, Went to our dental checkups on Wednesday. No cavities for all! YAY! See you in 6 months. Later that evening, Dax was out playing with some friends, One of their mom's, was challenging the boys to do 15 burpees. If you don't know what those are, they are an exercise where you jump up in the air and then go down on the ground and do kind of a pushup and then jump back up! (kinda hard to explain) Anyway.. So they proceed to do these in THE ROAD! I am watching them, and suggest maybe they should go on the grass, as I notice one of his friends looking at his hands and seeing the rocks and such, on them. A few seconds later, all three of the boys go running off, to where I assume, is to play hide and seek. A few minutes later, Tregan comes outside and tells me that Daxton is in the house and he has chipped and loose teeth. I go inside to see. After examing his teeth, I find none of them to be loose, and no blood! Thank goodness! But he did indeed, chip three of this front teeth! YIKES! It is after 5:00 so the dentist office is now closed! But, I remember that the answering machine has the dentist's cell number. So I call and get the number. Thankfully, he is my cousin. So It is not too incredibly awkward, calling him after hours.
He asks me to text him a picture of Dax's teeth.

Here is the picture I sent him
The two front ones and the bottom left one, are chipped
Cam the dentist, calls me back after getting the picture and says " most times when the parents tell me their child has chipped a bunch of teeth, they are exaggerating and it is only like one tooth, but you were not exaggerating!" That did not make me feel better. So he tells me he thinks they look like they are ok, as far as the damage level. He says it looks like they broke through just two layers, instead of three. He is not working on Thursday, so to call and get him in, on Friday,. He will have to build them up and try and fix them, as best as he can. Oh, and to give Dax ibuprofen because he will be in pain! By then, I am starting to kinda panic, and worry. What is going to happen? Is he going to look ok? My mom assures me " well at least he didn't knock his teeth out!" True! But still, it is his front teeth. And he has the best teeth in our family!
Later on that night, Dax starts complaining of his throat hurting. Which he had mentioned off and on, the past few days. I then realize, that Dax only complains, when he is Really sick. Which most all times, is when he gets strep throat! I knew I had to get him into the doctor. So I called and got him an appointment, the next day. Poor kid, was in so much pain with his teeth and his throat the next morning. He was being so brave, though! Of my three kids, Dax is my one who never complains when he is sick. In fact, he hardly ever complains about anything, really. I think he must have the highest pain tolerance! So, we go to the doctor, and sure enough, he has strep throat! We get his meds and he rests and hangs out the rest of the day.
Friday morning, it is back to the dentist! The dentist and his staff, were all asking him how he did it. Dax was too embarrassed, to tell the story. He asked me to tell them. They all teased him, about working on his muscles, and trying to kiss his girlfriend while he was doing it.
We had to wait a little bit, while they fit him in between patients. I think he ended up laying in the chair breathing the gas, for like a half hour. Luckily Dr Cam, let Tregan, Aty and I, hang out in the rooms where they sedate little kids and watch movies on the big beanbag. Two hours later, he was done.
Here is the after picture
Looks pretty good right?
Thank Heavens!
Don't mind the little wart on his nose! Stupid thing keeps coming back.
He has had it frozen twice now!
So, what started out as a pretty low key week, ended up being pretty exciting! |
