The Big 8!

My Sweet Little Daxy Doodle, ( as we used to call him)  turned Eight on Tuesday!

On the morning of his birthday, I was lying in bed, thinking how sad I was that he was Already 8 years old! How did the time fly by SO fast? It seems like he was my little Daxy, for so long. I started thinking about how stinkin cute he was when he was a little baby. I started looking through photo albums, and found a ton of really cute pictures of him. So I decided to post a few of my favorites!

In the hospital
He was born with Group B Strep. It was a very sad day. He was a Very sick little guy! He had to stay in the NICU for 7 days. And then he was on oxygen at home for almost two months.

21 Days Old!

About three or so, months old
This was taken on Christmas day or Christmas Eve
(this is one of my most favorite pics of him)

This picture resembles my dad So much! In the Summertime, you would always catch him with a piece of grass in his mouth. He even showed my boys how.

Playing with his big brother!
Tregan Adored Dax. He could Not get enough of him. They were BEST Buddies for years! Now... Not as much. Which makes me sad. They still get along fairly well, but not like back then.

Hard to believe this is the same little boy with the dark gobs of hair huh?

Since his Birthday was on a Tuesday. We just celebrated as a family. He was able to go to his very first, Scout night. Which happened to be pack meeting, they were doing the Raingutter Regatta. So he got to make a boat. He had a lot of fun! He even won the Sportsmanship award, because he didn't complain that the boy he raced against cheated.
After scouts we came home, had his favorite dinner. (Tacos) Cake, and Presents.

Capt'n America Shield

He finally got his own Scooter!
 THOR!
(I may or may not, have anything to do with why he got this movie)
Cookie Dough!
I had to put this picture on here. Because it is a really funny story. So I decided to make cookies for Dax's class to take on his birthday. I thought I should double the recipe so I made sure I had enough, and so I would have leftovers for my family. But, the problem was, I forgot that this particular recipe made a lot of cookies. It was one I don't make very often. So once I had put in the first couple of ingredients. I remembered. But it was too late. So I carried on. By the time I got to adding the flour. The bowl was almost overflowing. And by the 8th, yes 8th, cup of flour. My kitchenaid was getting really hot. And I was afraid it was going to burn up. So I had to scoop it out into another bowl. I was trying to use my one beater handmixer, to mix the chocolate chips in. The dough was flying everywhere! My neighbor friend came over during this. I showed her what I had done. She laughed at me, ate some of the dough,  and then we went over to her house, carrying my giant bowl of dough to use her hand mixer. On the walk across the street. I had two other friends come over and grab a taste of dough. And lot of begging kids. Which I told them they had to wait until it was cooked! I baked over 10 ten pans of cookies. I took a plate to every friend on my street. And set aside 30 for Dax's class and filled a huge bag full for our fam. And, put a tupperware full, in my freezer! So as you can tell. We had an abundance of cookie dough at our house. Just call me Betty!

We have a tradition in our house. That on your birthday you get breakfast in bed. Dax wanted pancakes for dinner the night before. So we decided to have his breakfast for dinner instead. Here are his Captain America pancakes.

He wanted to have a Captain America party. So this was the invite. (not sure why the back is sideways. but I can't fix it )
I told him, since he had such a huge party last year. That we were going to do something low key, from now on. He was allowed to invite two or three friends, to go somewhere. As I looked into options of places to go. I found that things were a little pricey. He really wanted to go see Pirates at the dollar theater. Which would have been perfect and cheap. BUT, it is PG 13. So not all the kids could go. So after searching all of our options, trying to find something affordable.  We finally decided on Chucky Cheese. I had a coupon. So they each got 33 tokens, which I thought would go by really fast. But No! They played for like an hour and half. They earned a ton of tickets. Especially Dax, Ethan and Tanner. They would just sit and play the games that gave tickets, over and over.  They had a blast! We took them on a Friday afternoon, after school. There was hardly anyone there. So it made it nice for the boys to run and play all they wanted, and for me, I just hung out and watched.  After they were done, and had gotten their prizes. We headed back to our house for Pizza and cake.
Chucky Cheese!
I gotta say, he is kind creepy. It looks like he is about to grab Daxton from behind his head.

Tregan's face cracks me up!

The Party Friends!

The Captain America Cake!
Yes I made it! The fondant was not cooperating with me, so it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. But Dax and Treg loved it, so that is all that counts.

Blowing out the candles!
(with a little help from Aty)
And that was Daxton's Birthday!
I can't believe he is already 8! It is even more unbelievable, that he is getting baptized! I wish I could just freeze time. We are having to postpone his baptism until November however, because my nephew is getting married on the day in October, that he is supposed to be baptized. He was a little dissapointed, but he really wanted his grandparents to be there. So he is ok, to wait. Which gives me more time to really accept reality, I guess.
I know this might be one of the longest posts I have done. So Sorry, but I just have to write a few things about Dax.

Daxton is...
*Super Sweet
*Kind Hearted
*Always concerned about others
*Always Helpful
(you can ask him to do anything and he will jump up, and say "ok, and do it, or if you don't ask, he will just offer to do it.
*Loves, Loves, to tease Aty and make her scream
*Adventurous in a cautious way (if that makes sense)
*He likes to play video games, but he also likes to just play by himself.
*He likes to watch movies.
* He has lots and lots of friends.
*He Loves to play with friends. He begs to be outside playing.
*He is very loving and loves to gives hugs.
(he will even give me kisses when I drop him off at school. Which I know, embarrasses him, but he doesn't want to hurt my feelings. )
*He is Funny!
*A funny thing we like about him is...
He only halfway listens when we are all talking at times. and he will catch the last few words of the conversation. and then he gets all confused. We are always just laughing at him. because he never seems to quite know what it going on.
*Loves to talk at night
he will  talk and talk at night, when he is supposed to be going to sleep.
(Which drives Tregan crazy!)

He is such a sweetheart. We are So blessed, to have him in our family. He is so easy going. I sometimes forget he is there. Which is kinda bad to say, I guess. But, that is how easy and mellow he is.
I am So glad, we had him when we did. It is So fun, having two boys so close together. I am So glad, He and Tregan, will always have each other to lean on.
Now I am tearing up, so I will go.
Happy Birthday Sweet Daxy!
